There are plenty of reasons to get your children into martial arts, but there are several reasons why you might be a little concerned. One major worry that parents have about sending their children to a martial arts class is that the materials taught in the class will make their child more aggressive, and worse, give them the ability to act on that aggression. Actually, nothing could be further from the truth!

Sit in on a class that you are considering sending your child to. In many martial arts classes, there will be a hierarchy of older, more practiced students at the top and less experienced students below them. Watch how the older class treats the younger; you will find that in many schools, it is typical that the older students will help tutor the younger ones. There is a sense of responsibility there, and as your own child gains experience, he or she will understand that the role of someone who is stronger is to help someone who is weaker or less experienced.

There are also several martial arts that are completely oriented towards self-defense, rather than attack. For instance, kung fu is used to redirect an attacker’s force against him. There are also noncompetitive martial arts that don’t feature sparring at all. When you are looking for a martial art school for your child, make sure that you sit on a few sessions. Is the emphasis on defense, and how is the session divided up? Is it a competitive environment or a cooperative one?

Think about what you are interested in having your child learn in his or her martial art. Are you more interested in self defense, or encouraging healthy habits? You may want your child to be in a martial art to teach him discipline and self-control. With the right martial art, you can make sure that your child learns all of these things. Becoming a bully is not something your child will pick up in a martial arts class. Make sure that you speak with your child about the class before enrolling him. Tell him that he is not learning to beat up other people, he’s learning to take care of himself.

One of the most important things that martial arts can teach a child is self-control. One typical training exercise used in several martial arts is to do everything at half-speed, whether they are kicks or punches. Through this conscious slowing of their movements, the students learn to think about their attacks and how much effort they put into their strikes.

Martial arts classes are wonderful tool to help your child develop a calm center and to encourage him to lead a healthy life. They do not foster aggression, nor do they promote aggressive behavior towards others. Go to a martial arts class to observe, and you will see that while respect and self-control are encouraged, bullying is most definitely not!

If you are interested in having your child try a marital arts class out, then I invite you to try our great kids program for free. I am sure you will be amazed at the results you will see when your child does his first class. If you want some more information give us a call at 800-508-6141 and ask about our free 2 week Internet special.

There are many different types of bullying in the workplace that we must learn to recognize. The most common types of bullying in the workplace involves pressure bullying, corporate bullying, client bullying, serial bullying, secondary bullying and cyber bullying. These different types of bullying have common effects of stress, humiliations and fear on the part of the person who is the target of the bullying.

In most case, the person who is a target by these types of bullying in the workplace find it difficult to get out of the situation without quitting his or her job. If the person who is the target of one or two of these types of bullying does not quit his or her job or does not fight back and try to stop the bullying process, he or she will most likely suffer from the long term effects of bullying.

What Is Pressure Bullying?

Pressure bullying usually happens between the boss and the subordinate. There are certain types of bosses who put too much pressure on their staff such as giving too tight and unrealistic deadlines, giving the employee a work quota that is impossible to achieve without the employee giving up his or her break time and asking the employee to work long hours and even on weekends and threatening to fire the employee if he or she refuses to accede to the request for work overtime. In this type of bullying, the boss usually used his or her influence over the employee to make the employee’s life miserable.

In many cases, pressure bullying happens during stressful times. Due to the stress of the moment, the boss has the tendency to bark orders at his or her subordinates without considerations for the feelings of that subordinate. In many cases, when the boss is totally stressed out, he or she shouts or swears at his or her subordinate. Although irritability and short-temper is normal for people under pressure, the fact that the boss does not apologize for what he or she has done during the heat of the moment makes the incident a form of bullying.

Corporate Bullying

This type of bullying is a combination of pressure bullying and the manipulation. A common example of corporate bullying is when the company exploits a situation where the labor laws are weak and jobs are hard to come by. Since the corporation knows that the employee will most likely stick to the job out of necessity, it will put pressure on the employee to put more efforts on his or her job. In many cases, the corporation will require the employees to work longer hours and denies the employee some of the benefits that are due to him or her.

If you teenage daughter comes home one day crying and telling you how she has been bullied in school, don’t take out the shotgun and head for the school ground. Teenage bullying can be very stressful for your child but this does not mean that you have to take the situation under your hands. Always remember that your child must learn to handle different life situations including bullying.

Note that your child must learn to be independent and take of herself. If you always come to her rescue every time she gets into trouble, your child will always be dependent on you. According to studies, it is not healthy for a child, especially a teenager, to be overly dependent on his or her parents. The earlier the child learns the value of independence, the better he or she will be able to survive as an adult.

Helping Your Child

The best thing that you can do to help your child who is a victim of teenage bullying is to give him your full support and give him or her tips on how to handle situations like this. For instance, you need to teach your child to be assertive. Demonstrate some assertive behavior and lead you child by example. However, you should make it a point to differentiate assertive from demanding and aggressive. Being assertive means that you only ask what is rightfully yours. Teach your child to stand his or her ground when she is right and to apologize when he or she commits a wrong.

You must be able to teach your teenager the art of differentiating routine teasing from bullying. Tell your teenager that there are certain acceptable degrees of teasing and arguing. Note that friendly teasing and arguing is part of socializing and your teenager must learn to understand these things and accept them. However, when the teasing and the arguing turns sour and resulted to teenage bullying, tell you child to put a stop to it at once by letting the others know that the situation is no longer funny and they should stop teasing him or her at once.

To cope with teenage bullying, teach your teenager social skills so that he or she will be able to easily fit into a group. Note it is very important for teenagers to be accepted by their peers. The more your child is accepted by his or her peers, the lesser chances that he or she will be subjected to teenage bullying.

There are times when teenage bullying goes out of control and violence happens. It is not uncommon for teenage bullying to result in more serious incidents. If you feel that your teenager is in danger, that’s the time when you have to come in and deal with the situation your own way.

Many times, teachers and parents look down on the idea of bullying, or brush it off as a minor annoyance that really isn’t something to be concerned about. The problem is that the situation can be far worse than parents and teachers can admit, and if your child has problems being bullied, the idea of serious impacts and serious problems is very real to your child and to your child’s classmates.

Sadly, there are many cases that result from being mistreated, and one of them is suicide in school due to bullying. What this means is the idea of bullying is much more serious than anyone could have known, and something has to be done to stop it as soon as it is noticed.

Why Is It So Bad?

It seems that a lot of the time, bullying has gotten worse and worse in school settings. Some kids are just picked on from the beginning, and this could be for many reasons, most of which aren’t very logical. There is very much a hierarchy in schools today, and usually it begins right from the start.

If a child isn’t included in the popular crowd, and is, for some reason, picked on, that child might be picked on for their entire school career. Unless they can get help or can find a good group of friends to lean on, the idea of suicide in school due to bullying is very real for them.

This happens because sometimes by the time a child gets to an age where they begin to think about their lives, they realized that for as long as they have been in school, they have been bullied. They might also see that there is no end in sight, because young children can’t usually think about the future in terms that make them feel better. Some might feel that suicide in school due to bullying is the only out that they have, and they might begin to believe what the bullies are saying about them.

Believe In Bullies

One of the biggest factors in suicide in school due to bullying results from when a child begins to believe that what the bullies are saying about them is true. This usually happens when a child has listened to the same things over and over again from bullies, and begins to believe that it is true. If they believe the bullies then suicide in school due to bullying is really the only way they can see to stop it. The idea of suicide in school due to bullying is a very scary one, yet some children feel that it is simply their last hope.

Youth violence has become quite prevent in many schools all over the United States. According to experts, youth violence often starts with some harmless middle school bullying then graduate to a more aggressive form of bullying. Once middle school bullying becomes more intense and aggressive, the kids begin to fight back resulting to some serious cases of youth violence. In extreme cases, the kids end up destroying some personal properties and seriously hurting each other. It is not uncommon for middle school kids to land in the doctor’s clinic after a fight. In fact, in some extreme cases, these kids could inflict some serious harm on each other that they end up in a hospital bed for a few days.

Establishing Cooperation

Preventing youth violence is not just the concern of the parents or the school administrators. There are a need for the students, the parents, the school administration and the people in the community to cooperate and work together to prevent any forms of middle school bullying. Always remember that middle school bullying does not only end in the school grounds. More often than not, fights happen outside of the school premises that teachers and school officials will not be able to intervene. Since middle school bullying could escalate to more serious forms of violence in the streets, it is very important for all people concerned to cooperate and provide for a safety net to keep the kids out of trouble.

Middle school bullying is a serious thing and it is important to prevent any serious harm from happening through vigilance. The people around the community must learn how to work together to recognize any forms of bullying in the community. If the kids know that the adults around them will not tolerate any form of bullying, they will be less likely to display aggressive behaviors towards each other.

One of the best ways to prevent middle school bullying is to divert the attention of the kids to a more fruitful endeavor. The school’s sports program could be used to teach the kids the value of self-respect, respect for others, teamwork and sportsmanship. According to studies, kids who respect themselves and others will less likely to knowingly and voluntarily inflict any harm on others. Furthermore, if the kids are busy with other activities like sports, they will have less idle time in their hands thus they will have less chances of picking on each other.

When it comes to something like cyber bullying, you know that there are many different ways it could be accomplished, and many different things that might come out of it. When it comes right down to it, there are 7 categories of cyber bullying that can help you understand what is happening.

Threats

The first of the 7 categories of cyber bullying is threats. Threats occur in emails or instant message programs, or even in comments on a web site. Threats include telling someone you are going to hurt them, or being even more specific in what you intend to do. This is something that can be frightening, and something that can be hard to stop because usually when an address or screen name making threats has been blocked, the bully resorts to simply finding a new one.

Intimidation

Intimidation is another of the 7 categories of cyber bullying that occurs when a bully tries to intimidate a victim into doing or saying what the bully wants them to do or say. Email threats are often hard to control because sometimes there is no way to tell where the email has been sent from. These can be especially scary if the victim has no idea who is sending them.

Black Mail

Black mail is another of the 7 categories of cyber bullying that can be worrisome to a victim. In this situation, a bully finds some personal information, whether this is letters, photographs, or even personal finance information, and holds it over the head of the person that they are bullying. They threaten to release this information to the public unless their victim complies with them. This can be extremely stressful because of the nature of the internet. Anyone can see what the bully posts.

Identity Theft

Identity theft can be another of the 7 categories of cyber bullying that is troubling. Here, a bully actually steals the identity of a person and then uses that identity to do many things. They could either use it for financial gain, or they could use it to ruin the victim. Often the bully will pose as the victim and say and do things online that the victim would never do.

Posing As A Friend

Another of the 7 categories of cyber bullying can include a bully pretending to be someone’s friend and then going behind their backs and talking negatively about them. This happens often, and is very stressing and frustrating.

Unknown Bullies

Unknown bullies as part of the 7 categories of cyber bullying can be very scary because if a person is being threatened by someone they do not know, they are going to be afraid that this person will find them in real life. This is the kind of thing in which a parent should get the police involved.

Known Bullies

Known bullies are usually a person that the child knows at school, who also bothers them online. This is one of the7 categories of cyber bullying, and can usually be addressed at the school, where the child knows the bully face to face.

Are you one of those people who have suffered through a lot of bullying when you were young? If you are one of those people who have been through a lot of trying experiences with bullying, you must learn to cope with the long term effects of bullying and go on with your life. According to studies, the long term effects of bullying can be emotional crippling but with the right kind of therapy plus a loving environment, one can easily deal with the long term effects of bullying and lead a normal and happy life.

Recognizing The Problem

Childhood bullying can have many long term effects. According to studies, one of the long term effects of bullying is the inability of a person to properly relate to others. In many cases, people who have suffered through a lot of bullying when they were young are reclusive and pretend not to enjoy socializing with others. Although there may be some people who do not really like to socialize, there also those people who want to but are just afraid that they will be rejected. If you are one of those people who want to socialize but are just afraid to come out of your shell because you do not like to be rejected, you must deal with your problem squarely. Do not deny the problem. The more you deny the problem, the worst off you will be.

Getting Help

Once you have acknowledged that you are suffering from the long term effects of bullying, you must do something about your situation. Always remember that acknowledging the long term effects of bullying is just the first step. Merely acknowledging the problem will not make the problem go away. You need to seek professional help so that you can get over the situation. Find a good therapist who can resolve your bullying issues. Ask for referrals from your relative and friends. If your friends and relatives could not give you good referrals, you may contact the local association of therapist in your area and ask for referrals.

Talking about your problems will help you resolve them. The more you are able to talk about the things that are bothering you, the more you will be able to deal with what happened to you in the past. Always remember that you need to let go of all your painful experiences before you can truly be free.

Kung Fu For Kids: Teaches Discipline And Self Control

If your kids are out of control and you just can’t seem to get a handle on them, you should consider enrolling them in Kung Fu For Kids. Kung Fu For Kids is a great way to teach your kids discipline and self control. The best part is that they’ll have a blast doing it. If your kids have never really been athletic or competitive, Kung Fu For Kids can help whip them into shape and they’ll probably surprise you with how much they take to it. That’s because Kung Fu For Kids is tailored especially for kids. The lesson plans are designed just for them by instructors who care about their development and training.

Short Attention Spans

In today’s day and age, parents everywhere rush too quickly into medicating their kids when they can’t seem to control them. Every kid, it seems, has ADD or some derivative. However, it might just be that kids today have a lot more to distract them. With TV, computers, cell phones and more, it’s no wonder kids can’t seem to focus their attention for more than five minutes at a time. The instructors at Kung Fu For Kids know that kids have such short attention spans. They design lesson plans that change frequently. This keeps their attention longer while teaching them this ancient martial art.

Some parents are hesitant to enroll their kids in Kung Fu, even though it’s Kung Fu For Kids. Some parents think that their kids, once enrolled in Kung Fu, will start fighting with other kids. They think it will make their kids more aggressive. The fact is, though, that Kung Fu For Kids teaches the exact opposite. Kung Fu For Kids teaches kids that they should only use what they’ve learned to defend themselves and even then they should only use what they’ve learned when it’s extremely necessary. If they are caught fighting while enrolled in Kung Fu For Kids, many instructors will not let them return. This should comfort many parents who are considering enrolling their children in classes.

You’ll be amazed at how fast your children will learn discipline and self control while also keeping in shape. Kung Fu For Kids is for all children, big and small. So, enroll your children today and let them learn this ancient Chinese martial art with lesson plans designed just for them.

So, your doctor told you that you need to get some exercise but you’re not looking forward to it. All you can think about is running outside or slaving away on some stair master machine at the gym, both seeming completely undesirable. If you’re going to stick with an exercise program, you know it has to be stimulating and exciting. You need to find an exercise program that is constantly changing so that you never get bored. It sounds like Kung Fu training is exactly what you’re looking for.

Constantly Changing

Kung Fu is an ancient Chinese martial art that has been made famous by people such as Bruce Lee and by movies such as the Matrix series. Kung Fu training is a great workout. Not only that, but you will also be learning valuable self defense, which is handy since we live in an increasingly dangerous world. Kung Fu training is constantly changing, it’s hardly ever the same, and with each lesson you’ll get better and better.

There are likely several Kung Fu schools right in your area. All you have to do is do an internet search. The cost of Kung Fu training varies by school but it’s worth it when you consider all that you’ll benefit from it. Kung Fu training will help you burn calories, lose fat and will show you what it means to defend yourself.

It is important to note, however, that just because you are involved in Kung Fu training doesn’t mean you should go around looking for fights. Many people think that Kung Fu will teach them to fight and going out and fighting is what you should do. This is definitely not the case as any Kung Fu instructor, or Si Fu, will tell you. Rather, Kung Fu teaches not to fight unless you absolutely cannot help it. Hence, defending yourself is all you should use your Kung Fu training for. It is not meant to hurt others but it’s rather meant to protect you. When you think of it in that capacity, you will soon learn that taking Kung Fu training is the best thing you could do for yourself.

Ask your doctor before you start Kung Fu training but it’s more than likely that he or she will love that you are taking Kung Fu. You’ll see, after a few weeks of training, your health will be better, you’ll be more in control of your body and mind and you’ll have a blast doing it.

You might not be aware of it, but there is a major problem online, and that is the problem of internet bullying. It might not seem like something that would be a problem, but actually, it can be something that people of all ages have problems with, and something that can end up being quite tricky to control.

What Is It

When it comes to internet bullying, it is related to the regular forms of bullying. Bullying is being mean to people, and forcing them to do things that they don’t want to do by threatening them or by using force. On the internet, this takes on a different dimension. With internet bullying, you can’t actually beat someone up, or use intimidation in a physical way. This means that internet bullying must take place in a different light. It is a situation in which people use threats of force and threats of intimidation, to either scare people into doing something they don’t want to do, or to force them into doing something they don’t want to do.

When you are looking at internet bullying you should know that it can take on many different forms. There are several ways that you can find yourself a victim of internet bullying, so it is something that you have to watch out for.

In today’s information age, another form of internet bullying might be threats with personal information. This can be comparable to the form of bullying that is blackmail – where a person holds a piece of information about someone over their head and threatens to release this information unless certain demands are met. This can be done much more easily with internet bullying because it is very easy to get the information that you are searching for, and it is much easier to have access to things like private emails, letters, and pictures when you know how to hack into people’s computers and into their online stuff.

Resistance

Luckily, there are some ways that you can get out of internet bullying, and some ways that you can prevent it from having an effect on yourself. The easiest way is to use the computer system that you have to make sure that all of your information and your sites are completely private. This is something that a lot of people do, and doing it early can prevent internet bullying from even occurring. Many times, using privacy functions can mean that you don’t have to deal with internet bullying at all.
